Ensuring Excellent Coffee

Microloan Coffee oversees each stage of our coffee's life cycle. And from seed to cup, we insist upon the best for our coffee and for the farmers that grow it.

Here's how we do it:

• We provide microloans reinforced by technical training that help farmers improve their fields.
• We are involved in all steps of production throughout the year to encourage farmers to use the best production methods.
• We develop relationships with the farmers. This increases transparency and ensures they are being treated fairly.
• We allow farmers to maintain their independence. Microloan recipients are free to sell their coffee to other coffee buyers.
• We pay above Fair Trade premiums to make sure the producers are earning what they deserve.
• We import only single origin lots. This allows us to track quality back to the beginning.
• We carefully monitor and safeguard the coffee en route from origin to its destination in the U.S.

But in the end, we must give the credit to the farmers. They are the ones who have been cultivating coffee their entire lives; they are the true experts. Take some time to get to know farmers of La Unión; then take some time to get to know their coffee!
